Mark Messier

Mark Messier is a National Hockey League icon with a career that spanned more than two decades and included 6 Stanley Cup championships.

He began his career with the Edmonton Oilers, winning 5 Stanley Cups. Mark was traded to the New York Rangers in 1991 where he led the team to their 1994 Stanley Cup championship. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008.

In 2006 the NHL named an award in his honor to pay tribute to his commitment to leadership not only on the ice, but in all walks of life. It is his hope that the award will not only inspire NHL players to lead within their team and sport, but also as role models in their communities and through their dedication to charitable initiatives.

Mark is committed to Tomorrow’s Children Fund, in which he coordinates events for hospitalized children and the New York Rangers. In 1996, he was honored with the organization’s “Humanitarian of the Year” award.

Today he serves on the Board of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund and is the Special Assistant to the President of the New York Rangers and General Manager World Championships, Team Canada.
